A study was designed by the Development Impact Group at the World Bank, in close coordination with the Center for Air Quality Management (CGQA) at the Ministry of Environment and the Executive Council of Sustainable Urban Transport (CETUD), to evaluate three of the most common data sources used for measuring air pollution. The focus is on measuring air pollution in urban settings, which provides an additional challenge of requiring potentially higher spatial resolution data to be able to inform urban policies. Data availability in urban contexts is especially important given the high level of exposure to air pollution from transport, industry and other sources experienced by the billions of residents of low- and middle-income cities.
